This week we got to visit one of the most famous cities in the world. Yes, we've been to St. Louis, Chicago, and Boston, but these cities have nothing on SCRANTON, PA! Yes, that's right. Home of Jim, Pam, Michael, and Dunder Mifflin Paper Co. The setting of The Office. We had the privilege of performing right down the street from the famous Penn Paper tower (which is actually an abandoned warehouse) featured on the opening credits. Scranton is exactly the kind of town you would expect from the show. It's small, there isn't very much to do, it's very industrial, and in the entire downtown area I did not see a single restaurant or deli...or even convenience store.
The town is proud of its most famous business...even though it doesn't actually exist.
Look familiar? If you watch The Office, you see this shot of the street in the opening credits of every episode. Only there's snow. It wasn't a perfect day weather-wise in Scranton, but at least there was no snow.
Take a look at the video below to see the opening credits. And also the very funny opening of the season finale that was on last week.
No Jim or Pam, But There is an Abandoned Warehouse!

YAY!!! This is so awesome.
Scranton, PA was also made famous in Harry Chapin's song, "30,000 Pounds of Bananas".
