My Sisters and I Remember That Winter...

I'm pretty excited about being on the east coast for the rest of this tour. The mid-west is nice, and we did find a few cool towns, but it's mostly all the same. And I had already been to every state we performed in. I haven't experienced as much of the east coast since I have never lived on it until I moved to New York. We just returned from Concord, Massachusetts where I was looking forward to finding something...colonial to do. I checked out wikipedia on my iPhone (it's so awesome!) and found out that we could take a tour of Orchard House, Louisa May Alcott's family home where she wrote Little Women.

It looks exactly like the Orchard House in the movie Little Women. See it in the background on the poster? The film makers must have visited the home and designed all the sets based on the real thing! Even though I love the book and the movie, I didn't know just how closely everything was based on Alcott's real life and family. I really enjoyed May's room, the youngest sister who Amy is based on. May was very artistic and loved to paint, just like Amy in the book. So, May painted all over her room and in several other places in the house. She painted an owl above the fire place in Louisa's room that I wished I could take home! I love owls! We couldn't take pictures inside the house, but the pictures I took outside are on flickr, so check them out!

I'm also excited today because I just found out there's a pretty good chance we'll be taking Junie B Jones to Alaska! Now that's a place I have definitely never been before. We would do shows in Fairbanks and Anchorage. The reason it's not a totally sure thing yet is because they have to extend our contracts by a couple weeks so we can go in mid-June. So, most of the actors would have to say yes to committing a little more time to Junie B Jones. Theatreworks can replace a couple actors, but not all of them. So, keep your fingers crossed that most of them will say yes!
