A Midwestern Tour

I'm back from Ohio/Illinois...and what a trip it was. It was really nice to get home for a while and see my family. Especially right now while I have no show to work on, and my boyfriend is also out of town. I got to spend a lot of time with my brother, which was cool. We got to do our annual The Beach Waterpark trip. And I also got to see his new apartment, right by Eden Park in downtown Cinci. And I got to meet his girlfriend, Katie. I think she's probably my favorite of his girlfriends to date.

The trip to Illinois was crazy as always. We went to my annual family reunion for my mom's side where I always meet new relatives. It gets sorta insane because not only do I have about 30 cousins including my first cousins' spouses and children, but my mom also has a gazillion cousins, many of whom have grandkids by this point. So the family just grows exponentially every year. But big families are a lot of fun, and I'm thankful for mine.

We also got to visit the Thede side while in Illinois, and it worked out great this year because I got to see all my cousins (although there are far fewer on the Thede side). In recent years it's been harder to get us all together with sports, college, jobs, etc. We played a crazy game of Polish Uno. I think I got the hang of it, but I could not for the life of me explain it to you.

So now I'm back in New York, where I should have started rehearsal for a new show last night. But it turns out, we're not starting until next week now. Oh well. That gives me a chance to get unpacked and run some errands this week. Oh, the new show is called A Good Farmer, and I'm sure you'll hear more about it from me in the coming weeks.

And finally, friends, it is a monumental week. This week, by boyfriend leaves his 30s behind and marches onward to those wonderfully "mature" years. This Wednesday, he turns 40. Scary...I think more for me than for him. But oh, well. It's one of those things that if I think about it for too long, it starts to seem a little weird. But in reality, it's no big deal. In fact, I like being with a guy who actually acts like a grown-up. So, I think that I'm of the opinion, now more than ever, that age is just a number. A relationship should be based on things far more important than the year we were born.

Hey, I watched "The Hills" last week and I can see why you like it. You probably already know this (but just in case), MTV.com is streaming episodes of the new season on its website. I just wanted to drop you a note, especially since you can't find the DVDs off Netflix!
